Old Wadena Park:  Old Wadena Park is a very historical area of the Wadena County community.  It is located on the mouths of the Leaf and Partridge rivers, which are both tributaries of the Crow Wing.  The Crow Wing’s first fur trading post was built here in 1783.  A great battle was fought here where the “little round hill” (meaning “Wadena” in the Chippewa language), is located.  This battle was between the voyagers and the Sioux Native Americans over the prized hunting grounds.  This location was also where the first city of Wadena was located, before it was moved to its current location.

Today, the park has many hiking trails, a sheltered area for holding events, and the Old Wadena Society’s Bogwalk.  There is also the Old Wadena Society’s Rendezvous that is hosted on the 2nd weekend in August, annually.  You can check out the park’s website for more information.

Sunnybrook Park Campground:  The 78 acre Sunnybrook Park Campground is located along Whiskey Creek in Wadena.  The park contains playground equipment, softball fields, horseshoe pits, and picnic shelters.  There is also a children’s zoo, with peacocks, ducks, geese, buffalo, and deer.  This park is open from May 15 to October 1.  For more information, you can check out the Explore Minnesota website.

Burlington Northern Park:  Burlington Northern Park is located within the business district of Wadena. The renovated old depot building lies within the park, along with a beautiful gazebo.  Activities including the Coffee Concert in the Park, Farmers Market, Rotary Corn and Chicken Feed Lions Barbecue, and June Jubilee are held during the summer months at the park.

June Jubilee:  June Jubilee is the city of Wadena's summer celebration.  Highlights of the celebration include the Town & Country Breakfast, Grand Parade, and Family Fun Day.  For more information, you can check out www.wadena.org or www.wadenachamber.com.
